Natalie's 4th birthday has come and gone. I'm a bad Mom for not making a post right away, but I figured it's better late than never so today is the day of all things Natalie... after writing about the weekend.
We went to Duluth to have a 4 child birthday party. Jordyn (13) and Natalie (4) share September 25th, Jackson (11) is October 1st and Daniel (2) is October 18th. We spent the weekend in Silver Bay and was hoping to view some good fall colors, but the leaves turned late this year so we were too early. We went to Tettegouche State Park on Friday night and headed to the mouth of the Baptism River where I swam as a child. The beach was really weird this year. There wasn't much of it and there was a long finger sticking out into the river. The mouth of the river was even blocked off from Lake Superior by the beach.
Natalie standing on the finger.
Throwing rocks was fun!
Watching the waves was a different kind of fun.
On Saturday evening we went to Split Rock State Park. We got some pictures of our favorite lighthouse and of course threw some more rocks into Lake Superior. We were in for a surprise when it got darker. The lighthouse beacon was lit! They only do it a few times a year, so it was very nice to see.
(not too bad of a picture considering Jon didn't have a tripod)
On Sunday we had the party. Nothing too big and it was kind of rushed since Jordyn's soccer game was a different time than we thought. She missed out on the cake and singing.
Natalie's favorite present was this Littlest Pet Shop monkey stuffed animal from Jordyn. She just kept on hugging it.
Daniel was more interested in playing with the toys all around him than opening presents.
(2 Photos by Jensen - can you believe Jon gave up the D80 to a 9 yr old?)
He had gotten mostly clothes, so he was especially excited to get some cars. He was playing with the castle prior to opening presents and wanted to get back to playing with it. When Julie asked if he wanted to play cars on the castle, he would say "yeah" and then jump. He did this numerous times and it was just as funny the last time as it was the first time.
We sang happy birthday to the kids (minus Jordyn) and then enjoyed the cake.
To be continued...
